Each of elegant baluster form, finely painted in soft overglaze enamels and gilt with a continuous narrative scene depicting a Daimyō in full dō-maru armour standing beneath windswept pines, accompanied by two ashigaru attendants, the figures set within a misty landscape rendered in delicate washes of sepia and celadon tones.
The reverse sides painted with atmospheric riverbank landscapes beneath arching pine trees, the composition executed with remarkable restraint and painterly subtlety, characteristic of late Meiji Arita workshop artistry.
The shoulders and bases with formal gilt geometric borders, the interiors glazed, the necks finished with a gilt rim.
Height: 15 cm
