Valuation & Appraisal Services
With over twenty years’ experience handling Japanese works of art from the Meiji and Taishō periods, I offer professional advice and valuation services for collectors, families, and estates.
My work focuses particularly on Japanese cloisonné enamel, Satsuma ware, metalwork, lacquer, netsuke, and works on paper. Each object is assessed with careful attention to authenticity, quality, condition, and its position within the current market.
Valuations are based on long-standing experience in the field, continuous study of auction results, and first-hand knowledge gained through direct handling of the objects.
In addition to individual appraisals, I also assist collectors in building and refining collections of Japanese works of art. This may include sourcing specific pieces, advising on quality and authenticity, and guiding new collectors through the process of acquiring meaningful objects.
For clients based abroad, I can also act as an independent agent at auctions, offering guidance prior to sale and bidding on behalf of collectors when appropriate.
Valuation services are available in several forms, including informal opinions based on photographs, written valuations for insurance or estate purposes, and in-person collection reviews where appropriate.
To request a valuation or discuss advisory services, please use the contact form below and include clear photographs (front, back, base, and any signature or damage), dimensions in centimetres, and any known provenance.
