With over twenty years’ experience handling Japanese works of art from the Meiji and Taishō periods, I offer professional valuation and appraisal services for collectors, families, and estates.
I specialise in Japanese cloisonné enamel, Satsuma ware, metalwork, lacquer, netsuke, and works on paper. Each piece is assessed with careful attention to authenticity, quality, condition, and current market relevance.
Whether you require an informal opinion, guidance prior to sale, or a written valuation for insurance or estate purposes, I am pleased to assist.
Valuations are based on long-standing experience in the field, close study of auction results, and first-hand knowledge gained through direct handling of the objects.
Valuation Options & Fees
Informal opinion (photographs by email)
Identification, period assessment, quality evaluation, and an approximate market value.
£45 per item
Written valuation (for insurance or estate purposes)
A detailed written appraisal including description, attribution, condition, and market value.
£110 per item
Collection review / home visit
For larger collections or estates.
£180 per hour (plus travel if outside London)

Valuation fees are deducted from the final sale price should you choose to consign the item through LA Japanese Art & Antiques.
