A highly decorative and finely enamelled pair of Japanese cloisonné chargers, each worked in intricate silver wire and rich polychrome enamels on a emerald-green ground. One charger depicts two white cranes in flight amidst bamboo and flowering branches; the other shows a crane by a stream, surrounded by morning glories and auspicious flora. Both are framed by elaborate navy, red, and white stylised borders.
An outstanding example of Meiji-period craftsmanship, with elegant symmetry and refined detail throughout.
Diameter: 30 cm
Condition: Very good overall. Surface wear and pitting consistent with age. Minor crazing as visible in photos.
