Decorated overall in the Kutani aka-e palette with a dense iron-red and white scrolling karakusa ground enriched with gilt highlights. The bodies are animated with flying birds among large chrysanthemum and peony blossoms in soft enamel tones of turquoise, green, and orange. Stylised scrolling borders encircle the neck and foot, framing the vibrant surface design.
