Of tall diamond-shaped form with gently flaring rim and tapering foot, the vase is finely potted and decorated in rich polychrome enamels and gilt on a warm ivory crackle ground. Each facet is meticulously painted with an elegant arrangement of auspicious objects (takaramono) and flowering branches, including blossoming plum (ume), chrysanthemums, and finely detailed scholar’s accoutrements such as vases, lanterns, ritual vessels, stands, and textiles, all arranged in balanced yet dynamic compositions.

The decoration is executed with exceptional precision, employing dense gilt work, finely outlined enamels, and subtle shading, demonstrating the high technical standards associated with imperial-quality Satsuma ware of the Meiji period. The shoulders and foot are enriched with continuous geometric and foliate borders in gilt and coloured enamels, framing the central panels with authority and refinement.

Height: 30 cm

Condition: Excellent condition overall, with no cracks, restoration, or significant wear observed. The enamels and gilding remain crisp and vibrant throughout.
