Of elegant ovoid form with a short waisted neck and broad gilt rim, finely painted in enamels and gilt with trailing wisteria cascading from leafy boughs across a soft ivory crackled ground. At the base, small birds perch amongst grasses and flowers, creating a gentle naturalistic counterpoint to the vertical rhythm of the blossoms. The neck encircled by a richly gilt collar of geometric diaper and turquoise panels, above a key-fret border to the foot.

 

The underside bearing the iron-red mark 山金造 (Kinkōzan zo).

 

Height: 12 cm

 

Condition: Good overall condition with light wear to the gilding at the rim and minor age wear to the footrim, consistent with age. No cracks or restoration observed.
