Decorated in fine takamaki-e with a badger and weasel beneath flowering chrysanthemum and autumn foliage, set against a richly speckled nashiji ground. The animals are rendered with delicate line engraving and subtle tonal shading, conveying softness of fur and natural movement. The reverse continues the landscape with trailing leaves and ground flora, creating a continuous seasonal scene.
The use of gold hiramakie and raised takamakie against the shimmering nashiji ground produces a refined depth and quiet luminosity characteristic of high-quality Meiji lacquer work.
Length: 8.5 cm
Condition: Very good; minor age wear consistent with use.
