Of gently rounded rectangular form, worked in fine musen shippō (wireless cloisonné) enamel on a soft pale-grey ground, delicately decorated with a flowering prunus branch rising before a full moon.

The rims are mounted in shakudō, framing the composition with quiet restraint. The interior is finished in a rich aubergine enamel. The underside bears the Sakigake mark of Namikawa Sōsuke worked in thick silver wire.

A refined and poetic example of Sōsuke’s painterly enamel technique, where composition, emptiness and atmosphere take precedence over ornament.

Size: 9.7 cm x 3.2 cm

Condition: Very good antique condition with minor age wear to the mounts, as expected.
