Of elegant faceted form, the vase rising from a hexagonal foot to a waisted hexagonal body and tall flaring neck, finely worked in relief with butterflies in flight above flowering plants and grasses. The panels of the body applied with mixed metal decoration in gold, silver and copper alloys depicting chrysanthemum, blossoming sprays and foliate motifs, the neck further embellished with scrolling tendrils and stylised floral medallions.
The bronze ground of warm reddish-brown patina subtly graduating in tone, providing contrast to the delicately inlaid and applied ornament.
