A refined pair of slender ovoid vases, worked in silver-wire cloisonné (yūsen-jippō) on a smooth, even midnight-blue ground of exceptional clarity.

Each vase is decorated with sparrows in flight among flowering branches, the blossoms painted in soft rose and ivory tones and outlined with extremely fine silver wire. The foliage is rendered with naturalistic shading, giving the composition a sense of lightness and seasonal freshness.

The reverse of each vase bears small sprigs of wildflowers, executed with quiet elegance and subtle asymmetry — a hallmark of late-Meiji Kyoto workshop aesthetics. The rims and bases are fitted with their original gilt-copper mounts.

Size: height 25 cm

Condition:

Excellent condition. No chips, cracks, bruises, or restoration. Enamel surfaces are clean, glossy, and even, with only gentle natural age to the mounts.
