Each of baluster form, finely decorated in polychrome enamels and extensive gilt, the bodies painted with elegant figural scenes of ladies in courtly dress set within garden landscapes. The reverse panels depict flowering shrubs and patterned reserves, all set against a softly shaded ground.
The decoration is executed with refined detail and subtle tonal modulation, characteristic of high-quality Satsuma wares produced for the export market during the late Meiji period.
The bases bear the gilt Shōzan (正山) mark.
Height: approximately 24 cm
Condition: Very good, with light wear consistent with age.
