A Fine Pair of Japanese Cloisonné Vases with White Peonies by Ando
Late Meiji or early Taisho period
An elegant pair of Japanese cloisonné enamel vases of tapered cylindrical form with rounded shoulders, each finely decorated with white peony blossoms in full bloom, surrounded by buds and delicately shaded green foliage. The designs are executed in yūsen (wired) cloisonné, using exceptionally fine gold wires to outline every petal, stem, and leaf. The motifs are set against a smooth turquoise enamel ground, polished to a mirror-like finish.
Each vase is mounted with a white metal rims and foot, the bottom features a green enamel base bearing the Ando Company’s mark.
Height: 15 cm
Condition: Excellent throughout. No damage, no chips, and no restoration.
