A finely executed pair of Japanese cloisonné vases, attributed to the Ando workshop, decorated in rich translucent enamels on a soft turquoise ground. Each vase is finely adorned with cockerels and hens rendered in delicate wirework and softly shaded enamels, capturing natural movement and vitality.
The baluster-shaped bodies rise elegantly to gently flared rims, with carefully modelled plumage and harmonious composition. The reverse of each vase is left plain, allowing the quality of the enamel surface and form to speak for itself. Both bases bear Ando workshop mark.
The enamels display excellent depth and luminosity, with refined wirework and controlled tonal gradation characteristic of high-quality Meiji-period cloisonné.
Height: approx. 22 cm
Condition: Very good overall, with only light, age-appropriate wear.
