Of gently lobed form, the bowl is finely decorated to the interior with a lively figural scene depicting a gathering of courtly figures and children engaged in various pursuits, rendered in rich polychrome enamels and heightened with gilt. The central composition is framed by a finely detailed border of red-capped cranes, symbolising longevity and good fortune, while the exterior is embellished with dense floral sprays and geometric banding in iron red, gilt, and soft enamels.
The base bears a gilt and black Kanzan signature.
The interior shows fine stippling and delicate brushwork characteristic of high-quality Meiji-period Satsuma wares.
