Of rounded form rising to a short neck with fitted cover and upright swing handle, the body finely worked in bronze with a rich brown patina, carved and inlaid in gold, silver and shakudō depicting quail beneath flowering plants, butterflies and insects in flight, the details delicately engraved to suggest grasses and ground. The cover similarly decorated with insects in high relief, the interior lined in silver; the base with visible hammer marks forming a subtle textured finish.
