Of upright oval form, the roiiro black lacquer ground finely decorated in gold hiramaki-e and takamaki-e with a continuous landscape of flowering shrubs, rocky outcrops, rolling hills and a winding stream, the raised rocky elements worked in textured relief. The composition is enriched with areas of dense sprinkled gold lacquer, contrasting with the deep polished black ground. The interior finished in nashiji lacquer.

Condition: Good overall condition, with minor surface wear and light rubbing to the lacquer and gilt decoration commensurate with age and use.
