Of elegant elongated ovoid form with broad sloping shoulders rising to a short, gently flared cylindrical neck, finely worked in silver wire against a rich midnight-blue enamel ground. One side is exquisitely decorated with a celestial Tennin, gracefully portrayed holding a sacred lotus blossom, her flowing robes billowing around her in an elegant composition that conveys a remarkable sense of movement. Executed in finely shaded enamels of soft ivory, turquoise, aubergine, iron-red and gilt tones, the figure is rendered with exceptional attention to detail, while one of the sweeping robes is enriched with shimmering aventurine (goldstone) enamel, creating a striking, jewel-like effect. The reverse is decorated with trailing celestial scarves that continue the dynamic composition. The lustrous midnight-blue ground provides a dramatic contrast to the delicately modelled figure, highlighting the refined quality of the silver wirework and the artistry of the enamelling.
