Of elegant circular form, the box is finely decorated in cloisonné enamel on a soft bluish-grey ground. The exterior depicts seven egrets gathered among reeds to the lid, with four further egrets continuing the design to the base, creating a continuous and contemplative composition.
The birds are rendered in white musen (wireless) enamel, their plumage subtly shaded, with delicate silver wire accents defining the beaks and eyes. The box is finished with a neatly applied silver rim, and the interior is fitted with gold-patterned textile lining, typical of high-quality Meiji-period kōgō.
Condition:
In good condition, consistent with age. Two minor enamel stress lines are visible near the silver rim. No cracks, chips, or restoration observed.
Size:
Diameter: 7 cm
Height: 2 cm
