Of elegant ovoid form with gently waisted neck, finely decorated in enamels and gilt with a continuous scene of cranes in flight amongst autumn grasses and flowering plants. The upper rim enriched with a brocade-style gilt and geometric band, the lower register with a crackled gilt ground. The composition is spacious and refined, allowing the natural ivory ground to enhance the sense of movement and air around the birds.
